About Koyasan Shingon Mission of Hawaii

In 1915, this nonprofit organization, now operating as Koyasan Shingon Mission of Hawaii, was established to govern the 12 Koyasan Shingon Member Missions residing on four Hawaiian Islands. Bishop Sohko Kuki and the 13 Reverends presiding over these Member Missions have been trained and certified by Koyasan Kongobuji Headquaters in Wakayama-ken, Japan. Koyasan Shingon Mission of Hawaii is a member of the Hawaii Buddhist Council comprised of the major Japanese Buddhist denominations in Hawaii.

About Koyasan Shingon Buddhism

Koyasan Shingon Buddhism is one of 18 schools in the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. Koyasan Kongobuji headquarters is located on Mount Koya in Wakayama-ken, Japan. In 2004, Mount Koya was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
